Trump Followers Are Actually Looking For Jesus

I just had a huge flash of insight.

At this moment, the United States of America is inching towards electing a billionaire businessman for President. A man who screams at people who disagree with him, advocates bombing the #$%Z out of everyone who poses a threat, and a spit-worthy, self-serving view of women, minorities and fellow candidates.

And he's winning.

Thousands of men, decked out in their camouflage hats and sporting a gut the size of small child, are making their way to rallies and stadiums to cheer on their guy.

Here's what I've realized. It's huge.

Trump followers are looking for a way out. A way of out of hopelessness, despair, unemployment.

A way out of fear.

They're looking for Jesus and don't even know it.

Could it be that Trump followers see him as a messiah--the answer to their collective depression, anger and vitriol?

"He'll take care of me where those other guys haven't."

"He's like me, but successful. Maybe if he's in office, I can win in life too."

"He hates all the same people I hate. Maybe there's hope."

I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.  For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. -Romans 16:17-18 NIV
